It's been so long since I've blogged that Blogger changed everything and I'm not sure I know how to use the dang thing anymore! Yowsa. Technology just keeps on changing, and I keep on missing out on the changes until it's too late and I just have to adapt.
Today is my BFF's 71st birthday. Happy birthday, Mom!!! Until last night, I was exactly 1/2 her age. I can't say that anymore, darnit. Without getting too sappy, let me just take this moment to say how much I love you, Mom. See, most people just have a "mom" relationship with their mom. In other words, they need them when they need them and forget to call when they don't. For whatever reason, Mom and I are different in that respect. We live with each other, yet we email almost every day to chat about the goings on in our lives. We call each other once a day after work to check in and ask things like, "What's for dinner?" We can do a nonstop talk session or sit quietly in the same room without saying a word. We both love to read, watch movies together, eat out together, and shop together. We have the same taste in purses. We both have a love/hate relationship with Costco - we love the deals and hate how much money we spend there. We both love the dog and baby him to no end. We both LOVE sleep and wish we could get more of it even after a good night's rest. We enjoy the same kinds of music, books, and television. We just simply have a wonderful relationship that extends far beyond that of mother and daughter. We really are BFFs and always will be. I'm sure, like with my birthday, that this one will be difficult for Mom. Because, well, we both dearly miss Dad. But I'm ever so grateful that Mom is still here and that we can celebrate her special day together. It's a simple reminder that life does go on even when you think it can't or won't. Plus, we can't reach more milestones if we don't celebrate and make the most of them. So, to you, Mom and BFF - hope you've had a fantastic birthday!
All my love,
Kate :)
